Nivea Express Hydration Primer VS. MAC Skin Base Visage

 Primers:
MAC vs. Nivea

For the longest time, I have been looking for the perfect primer.
As I have extremely dry skin, it is always a struggle to find products that help keep my makeup on, whilst keeping my skin looking hydrated.

After doing some research on multiple primers, I came across Nivea's "Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer".

I had heard great reviews on it so I thought I would check it out.

This primer retails for around £3-5 (for 50ml) and can be found in Boots, Superdrug and supermarkets.

I chose to get the one for dry and sensitive skin.

Packaging:

The product comes in a decent sized glass tub and it feels and looks quite expensive considering the price of it.

Product:

The concistency of this primer is very lightweight on your skin. I think this product would be perfect for those with slightly dry skin to normal skin types as the thin product leaves a soft base for foundation.

Overall Opinion:

I really wanted to love this primer after hearing such good things about it and the price of it was ideal for someone who doesn't like to spend too much money on makeup.
However, as the product is so light, my dry skin quickly soaked it up - which would be perfect for those with normal to oily skin, but for me it only ended up making my makeup cling onto dry patches later in the day.

MAC

After being disappointed with Nivea's primer, I was on the look out for others. One day,  I was talking to a MAC makeup artist and she told me about MAC's Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage.

This primer retails for £20.50 (for 30ml) and can be bought at MAC.

As I currently don't have a job, spending £20.50 on a primer made me wary.
However, after placing some on my face under some foundation, I was impressed with how soft it felt.

Packaging:

My biggest issue with this was how little product you get for the price. But after using it after a few days, I realised that you only need one pump to cover your face, so, in my opinion it isn't too bad.
The product comes in a small black tube. What I thought was interesting was that the tube is covered in shimmers which the product itself, contains.
The primer comes out of a pump, which happens to give the perfect amount for your face all in one pump.

Another issue that I don't really like is the fact that it is in black packaging, this is because you have no indication when you have almost run out of primer.

Product:

The first thing I noticed about this product was the consistency. It is a lot thicker compared to Nivea's primer.
It contains light reflecting particles, which does look terrifying at first, however once placed under foundation, it makes skin have a healthy looking glow.
The Skin Base Visage definitely left my skin feeling very soft and moisturised all day.

Overall Opinion:

MAC's Skin Base Visage has become my favourite because it makes my makeup last all day and it helps create a smooth base for make up application. It is quite expensive, although I do think it is worth the price. I used to worry about my foundation sticking to dry patches, but now I can honestly say I have seen a difference in how my make up looks, thanks to this I can feel confident about how I look throughout the day.
